Saffiano leather, with its waxed cross-hatch finish, resists scratches and moisture and needs little upkeep. A few simple habits keep it looking new for years.
- Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry straight away with a dry one. Avoid alcohol, solvents, household cleaners and wet wipes.
- Moisture
- If it gets wet, blot the water and let it dry at room temperature. Never use a hair dryer, heater or direct sun; strong heat stiffens and cracks leather.
- Shape
- Do not overfill. A card slot that always carries two cards slowly stretches and stops holding one.
- Storage
- When not in use, keep it in its dust bag or box, away from direct light and damp. Plastic bags stop leather from breathing.
- Dyes and perfume
- Keep perfume, hand cream and make-up off the leather. New dark fabrics such as raw denim can transfer dye onto lighter leather.
